Tour and Talk and Eat Pie

Come tour the Charlotte Grange Hall in East Charlotte - formerly the Lyceum School House, enjoy a free piece of homemade pie (and coffee and tea!) and hear about Charlotte’s One Room Schoolhouses.

Eighty percent of all Vermont students were taught in one-room schoolhouses in the first decade of the 1900's. At that time Vermont and Kansas were tied for first place in the US for the proportion of school age children attending school. Charlotte at one time, had up to 14 schools scattered across the town!

Dan Cole from the Charlotte Historical Society will paint a vivid picture of Charlotte’s early student education and the role one-room schoolhouses played.

Have you wondered what the inside of the Charlotte Grange Hall looks like? Did you know that there’s a stage upstairs? Did you know that it was built as a debating hall by the Young Men's Literary Club?

Come see, and enjoy a tour of the building.
